Which desk do you like?
Wilson, our administrative head, is trying out a desk but he might be a bit too big for this one. Lots of decisions to make! The Uganda group is working hard to equip the school and furnish the classroom. These desks are nice but we are leaning towards using tables where groups of six students can sit together and work collaboratively. All in the spirit of child centered-education.
Meet Wilson
Meet Wilson, our administrative head. Here he is sitting in his make-shift office which is being used to register the first group of students. The students must meet the strict criteria, set by the principal, to be accepted at Stand Tall Training Center. Stand Tall is a no-fee school and only those children who do not have the means to attend public school will be accepted. Registration continues for ten more days after which the children who have qualified will be evaluated and assigned a grade level.
Our Sign
Take a look at our sign which now stands in front of the school. Color is a part of Uganda and this sign is no exception. The school buildings are built and now the security wall is going up. Construction was delayed due to the heavy rains that pelted Kampala this year but it’s all going to be done by May 15, opening day.
